Kerry Walsh was the Team Leader Building Control at the Hurunui District Council.  In his interview he talks about the impact of the quake on buildings throughout the district.  He describes arriving in Amberley soon after the quake and having to inspect the welfare centre and other buildings to ensure they could be used for evacuations.  Over the next days and weeks helped coordinate a huge effort to rapidly assess all the buildings throughout the district, a job that involved many volunteer teams from outside the district.  He talks about the type of damage they saw, which buildings suffered the most and how the red/yellow/white sticker rating system worked.
