At the time of the earthquake Bridget was working part time in a relatively new role as Technical Assistant for the North Canterbury Rural Support Trust.  As her own home and property were not badly damaged she started phoning friends, neighbours and other Rural Support Trust people to see what help they needed.  As a result Bridget ended up spending many days coordinating an influx of donated good and the distribution of these throughout the rural community.  She also describes how the Rural Support Trust organised comprehensive welfare checks throughout the district.
