Topic: Hurunui Seismic Stories

Topic type:

The Hurunui Seismic Stories project was created to record and share the stories of everyday Hurunui people coping with the November 2016 7.8 quake disaster; their day-to-day endurance, the importance of families, friends, and neighbours, and their resilience in a time of crisis. Hurunui Seismic Stories is being run by the Amuri Community Arts Council and has recorded 25 personal stories from people who experienced the dramatic events of November 14. This is a community history, rather than an official history; a way to give people who normally don’t get to tell their story a chance to be heard, and to use this project to help the community connect with each other around this significant event.
