The Hurunui Memorial Library in Amberley was officially opened in August 2005. The building was constructed on the site of the former RSA Hall which had to be demolished. The war memorial remained but was moved, a delicate operation. The RSA has a dedicated space in the new library to house memorabilia and for their meetings. The library provides services not only to the population of Amberley but also to the wider Hurunui community by supporting the seven other community libraries as well as many of the smaller schools, childcare and playcentres and resthomes.
